For me it was the exact opposite. In College and University I found myself neglecting classwork in some subjects to instead focus on creative passions. I painted more canvases, wrote more pages, and spent more time on digital art in those years than I did in the following decade combined.
I think the magic left me when the state stopped supporting my living situation. There is no magic left in a person working 5 days a week.
